building at Cock O'Barton before construction

Refurbishment of Listed Building to house popular gastro pub near Chester. Planning consent and listed building consent was achieved in 2006 to extend the existing listed public house and derelict outbuildings to form a pub/restaurant with 13 hotel rooms accommodated around a courtyard garden. The design sought to retain the spirit and character of the original buildings, while introducing contemporary details using local stone and traditional materials. The courtyard buildings are designed as simple low key building to complement the main building.

With interiors by Lister Carter, the Cock O’Barton now provides a dining experience for 150-200 covers, requiring a large kitchen and dining areas.

Phase 1, comprising the refurbishment of the pub and conversion of the barns to accommodate a gastro pub, was completed just before Christmas 2006.
